stand. Again, with the race tire, I
thought I was on a good level for
the track condition; with the quali-
fier, I felt I had maybe three-10ths
in the pocket. I took the first two
corners quite steady because it
was cold, and you know with a
qualifier you need to make the
most of the first lap. But it is really
the first time I am using a qualify-
ing tire, so I need to use it more
to understand the full potential."
Redding's new teammate,
Chaz Davies, was overall second
fastest, leaving Rea third after his
single (half) day on track.
As new KRT Rider Alex Lowes
described it, he got one day out
of two, given that the rain blot-
ted out half the available track
time, but he made improvements
to finishing fourth quickest on his
first Kawasaki outing.
The rider who replaced him in
the official Pata Yamaha squad,
Toprak Razgatlioglu, was just
behind Lowes, with the other top
Yamaha of Michael van der Mark
sixth fastest.
Two new riders for Yamaha's
junior/training WorldSBK team,
GRT, were on show—Amer-
ican Garrett Gerloff and
Italian Federico Caricasulo.
They finished seventh and
eighth of the nine WorldS-
BK riders in Aragon.
Last, after an early fall
on the second day that
saw him bash his often-
injured left shoulder again,
was new Barni Racing
Ducati rider, Leon Camier.
He was reportedly not seri-
ously injured, just in great
pain on his still tender left
side after another opera-
tion in the autumn of 2019.
With the first taste of 2020
digested, the final main event on
track before the winter shutdown
will take place at Jerez, Novem-
ber 28-29. BMW Motorrad and
some other missing teams from
the Motorland tests will be here,
but Honda? Who knows?
