The Baja 1000 was our cover story 20 years, and pictured on the front
page was Tim Staab who teamed up with Johnny Campbell to win…
The National Arenacross Series got underway in Des Moines, Iowa,
and Nick Wey won both 250cc featured events. Pedro Gonzalez won
the 125cc-class final… Doug Dubach was the big winner at the White
Bros. World Vet Championship Motocross at Glen Helen Raceway,
where Edison Dye was also the recipient of the first Edison Dye
Lifetime Achievement Award.
We took a look back at the 1989 AMA Supercross and Motocross
National Championship season, and pictured on the cover were
Supercross and 250cc MX champ Jeff Stanton, 500cc National MX
champ Jeff Ward, and 125cc National MX champ Mike Kiedrowski. We
called it a season of surprises…. Warren Reid came out just for fun but
came away the winner at the 2nd Annual White Bros. Veterans World MX
Championships at Perris Raceway
in California… John Meyers won
the NHRA finals at Pomona.
