NOVEMBER 8, 1989
Harley-Davidson announced Rich King as its new star rider following
the retirement of Scott Parker. King was pictured on the cover
20 years ago… We showed you all of the hot bikes from the Tokyo
Motorcycle Show, and the bike that stole the show was Honda's
X-Wing, a concept bike that was a cross between the Honda Gold Wing
and CBR1100XX… Kenny Roberts Jr. won a thrilling Argentinean GP
over Max Biaggi… Shane Watts finished off the 1999 GNCC season
with a win at the Ironman GNCC in Indiana.
We took you on a dual-sport adventure 30 years ago. The CN staff
grabbed a wide range of dual sport motorcycles and hit the road on
a two-day odyssey in Southern California… Honda rider Guy Cooper
rained on Kawasaki's parade when he topped the 13th running of the
Kawasaki Race of Champions in New Jersey… Ed Lojak took top
honors at the Lead Belt National Hare Scrambles… Johnny Martin
won the Illinois Cross Country
Championship… We covered the
6th annual Dick Mann Vintage Dirt
Bike Rally.
