That's Steve Eklund on the cover of Cycle News 40 years ago
celebrating his victory at the final round of the Winston Pro Series at
Ascot Park. We also had an interview with the latest GNC Champion,
Eklund… Kent Howerton and Mike Bell continued their heated rivalry in
the Tans-USA MX Series at Sears Point. Bell got the upper hand this time.
Larry Wosick won the National (250cc) class… Don Sanford won the
Prairie Dawg's Mile High National Enduro in New Mexico; Dick Burleson
clinched his sixth enduro title.

We featured speedway racing on the cover of Cycle News 50 years ago.
Australian Speedway Champion Jim Airey was pictured leading World
Champion Ivan Mauger from Santa Barbara, California… Also pictured on
the cover was a photo of riders having to run a long way in the grand prix
start at Bay Mare motocross… Inside, we had coverage of the Inter-Am
Motocross Series from Marion County Raceway in Ohio and Pepperell in
Massachusetts. Bengt Aberg and Arne Kring were the big winners.
