onventional wisdom mandates
not trying something new in
important races.
However, the Precision Con-
cepts/Chaparral Motorsports
Kawasaki team proved that some-
times, a bit of risk pays off—or at
least doesn't hurt you—because its
squad of Zach Bell, Clay Hen-
geveld, Ryan Surratt and Blayne
Thompson dominated the 20th
Annual 3 Bros. 24-hour Endur-
ance Race, winning for the third
year in a row and fifth time ever.
The youthful Chidester Transport/
Buchanan Trucking/Purvines
Racing Yamaha group of K.C. Bal-
low, Kolton Lynn, Tyler Lynn, and
Daemon Wooslayer put last year's
DNF behind to claim second, two
laps behind, while Open Expert/
Intermediate winners Christian
Clark, Tyler Nicholson, Cody
Simpson and R.J. Warda rounded
out the top three overall.
Ryan Surratt
blasts out of a
tunnel a little
over nine hours
into the race. He
and teammates
Zach Bell, Clay
Hengeveld
and Blayne
Thompson led
the entire way to
win by two laps.
Precision Concepts boss Bob
Bell revealed a number of new
items on their Maxxis/Pro Circuit/
Fast House-backed KX450 like
an oil cooler, a one-off stator sent
by Kawasaki Heavy Industries
and a new oil formula supplied by
Maxima.
That didn't faze Rider of Record
Zach Bell at all, though. After win-
ning, he said, "I trust him with the
team with where they were going,
and it made the bike run really well
throughout the whole 24 hours
and it was strong the whole way.
