VOLUME 56 ISSUE 42 OCTOBER 22, 2019 P39 Americans Sweep Adelaide Supercross A merican's Justin Brayton and Mitchell Oldenburg both stood atop their respec- tive podiums following round two of the 2019 Australia Supercross Series in Adelaide, October 19. The Penrite Honda Team duo claimed the SX1- and SX2-class victories after all was said and done. Both Brayton and Oldenburg were the top qualifiers and went on to claim victories in their respective main events. Dan Rearson in SX1 and Jacob Hayes in SX2 topped the eve- ning's Superpole events. "I'm stoked to go back to back," said Brayton who won the opening round two weeks earlier, "especially because now we've raced two really different tracks, and I've been strong on each along with my Penrite Honda machine. Also, to see Oldenburg grab the win in SX2 is just great for the team, and I think it speaks volumes for our entire Penrite Honda outfit." In the SX2, red-plate holder Hayes was in the mix early but experienced crash a big crash in one of the rhythm lanes early and subsequently DNF'd. As a result, Oldenburg breezed to a seven-second margin of victory and moved his way into third in the standings, four points be- hind new leader Aaron Tanti. "Tonight was awesome," Oldenburg said. "We struggled a bit at round one; those in- door tracks are just so difficult and easy to make a mistake, and that's what we did. So to rebound here feels great; we're four points off the cham- pionship, so I'm excited for the remainder of the championship." Rounding out the podium in SX2 was Raceline KTM Thor's Josh Osby and Tanti, aboard his Serco Yamaha. In SX1, it was once again the CDR Yamaha Monster Energy teammates of Luke Clout and Dan Reardon taking up the second- and third-place posi- tions, with hometown hero Brett Metcalfe in fourth. CN SX1 1. Justin Brayton (Hon) 2. Luke Clout (Yam) 3. Daniel Reardon (Yam) 4. Brett Metcalfe (Hon) 5. Richie Evans (Yam) SX2 1. Mitchell Oldenburg (Hon) 2. Josh Osby (KTM) 3. Aaron Tanti (Yam) 4.
