DOCTOR SAID I COULD
"THEBUT I SHOULDN'T HAVE
RIDE,
BEEN RIDING.
"
I could ride, but I shouldn't have
been riding. So I started riding
and I wasn't 100 percent and that
hurt my confidence. After that
if was just difficult to get going
again.
Back in 2011, you were on
top of the world; you had just
won the GNCC title and then
Suzuki pulled its off-road program. That had to be difficult
to accept.
That happened just after I
broke my leg, too, so it was like
my world was falling down because everything happened at
once. All of us at Suzuki had a
feeling that the off-road program
was going to get pulled, but we
just never got the official word
until late, which made it hard. But
I was able to get a good deal with

run of bad luck.
Mike Hulbert at RPM Racing and
we sorted a deal to do WORCS,
which was good, it got me back
on the race track.
How did you get on with
WORCS, that's quite a different format from GNCC?
It was okay. At that time they
had the two one-hour races, and
this year they've gone back to the
two-hour format, which is a little
more off-roady. I still want to go
back and win WORCS races. Although the WORCS Series is a
little bit smaller, I still feel if you
can win at WORCS and at GNCC
then that makes you an all-round
off-roader. So I still want to get
back to ride some WORCS. Last
year was good; it was something
different. Once my leg got better I struggled with getting my
bike setup, and the high speeds
of the WORCS Series was a bit
different from what I was used
to. I think everything just added
up, but I had fun racing WORCS
last year. It was definitely cool to
do something different for a year,
but I'm excited to be back this
year for GNCC.
You and your Aussie teammates made quite a splash at
last year's ISDE in Germany,
taking second overall.
It was really good. I haven't
been home to race in Australia in
six or seven years, so there're a
lot of new faces coming on that I
haven't seen. And going to Germany and hanging out with all of
