INTERVIEW
P90
JOSH STRANG
And if that wasn't enough,
Strang's broken leg wasn't healing like it should, delaying his
comeback. GNCC was out of the
question at this point, so Strang
dedicated his time on the West
Coast and the WORCS Championship, working out a program
with RPM KTM. But, on the track,
Strang wasn't the same rider.
Although he had a few promising rides, Strang wasn't at the
top of his game, much of which
had to do with his slow-healing
leg. He soon disappeared from
the WORCS series to have surgery on the leg, and he made an
amazing recovery at the ISDE in
Germany, where he rode like the
Strang of old and was one of the
top riders all week and a member
of the runner-up Australian Trophy Team.
Strang made his return to
GNCC at the opening round of
the series a few weeks ago at the
River Ranch in Florida, where he
rode a private Kawasaki to a podium finish. He followed that up
with a strong fourth at the Georgia round a few days later, confirming his comeback.
We caught up with Strang at
the River Ranch and chatted with
him a bit about his long road to
recovery.
After all that you have been
through since 2011, you must
be happy with a podium at a
race like River Ranch.
Yes, this is perhaps the toughest race of the year and this is my
first race back in a long time so
I'm a little rusty. But I'm happy to
make it on the podium.
You broke your leg at the
end of 2011 which ended up
taking a long time to heal.
Yeah, it took a while. It didn't
heal right and then at the start of
2012 they went back in and took
some stuff out and then it finally
healed. Later, I had some problems with the knee where they
put the rod in, so after the ISDE,
I ended up going in and getting the whole rod taken out. It's
healed up now and everything's
good, so that's in the past.
Did that slow you down at
the start of 2012, when you
were trying to get started in
the WORCS series?
Yeah, I think that was some
of the problem we had getting
off the ground. The doctor said
