Briar Bauman (Indian Motorcycle/ Progressive Insurance, Indian FTR750) held a 35-point lead over defending AFT Twins Champion Jared Mees (Indian Motorcycle/Progressive Insurance, Indian FTR750). A podium finish by Bauman would give him the title no matter what Mees was able to do. The two title contenders had each won their 10-lap heat races with Mees' time being seven seconds faster. The showdown was set, but 14 other riders had their own agenda. Jeffrey Carver (Roof-Systems of Dallas, Briar Bauman battled back from adversity to clinch the 2019 AFT Twins title, the first of his career.
