SEPTEMBER 27, 1989
We pictured the winning team from the Motocross des Nations in Gaildorf,
Germany, on the cover 30 years ago. That winning team was from America
and made up of Jeff Stanton, Mike Kiedrowski and Jeff Ward. It was
Team USA's ninth-consecutive victory in the MXdN. They were so good
that they clinched the win after just the second of three motos… Ed Lojak
won the Beaver Valley GNCC in
Hookstown, Pennsylvania… Dan
Smith edged out Fritz Kadlec for
the win at the Colorado National
Hare & Hound.

SEPTEMBER 15, 1999
Mat Mladin gave Suzuki its first AMA Superbike title in 10 years after
finishing in fourth place at the season finale at Pikes Peak International
Raceway. Doug Chandler took the day's win over Pascal Picotte
and Nicky Hayden, who earlier had clinched the 600cc Supersport
Championship. Honda's RC45 ran its final race with Hayden taking
third… Chris Carr clinched his second AMA Grand National
Championship after winning the Sacramento Mile, the final race of the
season… Regis Laconi won the 500cc Grand Prix at Valencia.
