ROAD RACE FIM NORTH AMERICAN ROAD RACING CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND 9 / SEPTEMBER 9, 2019 NEW JERSEY MOTORSPORTS PARK / MILLVILLE, NEW JERSEY P58 BY THE CN STAFF PHOTOGRAPHY BY BRIAN J. NELSON I t was a good weekend for the Monster Energy Yamaha Team, but even a better one for Cameron Beaubier, the defending champion who kept his title hopes alive with a solid per- formance at New Jersey Motorsports Park. His weekend was capped off with a huge win Sun- day afternoon that will give him a big boost of confidence going into the final round two weeks from now. Still, he will need another strong per- formance at the championship finale at Barber Motorsports Park and a little bit of good luck in order for him to take down 2019 champion- ship leader Toni Elias. Elias just couldn't find his mojo in New Jersey and was only able to muster a couple of fourth-place finishes on his Yoshimura Suzuki, and in doing so, surrendered 19 points to his nearest rival in the champion- ship, Beaubier. If Beaubier can somehow find a way to take at least another 16 points off Elias' championship lead, the Monster Energy Yamaha rider will retain the number-one plate. If not, Elias will be the new champ. (Above) It was an all-Yamaha show at New Jersey Motorsports Park with Cameron Beaubier (1), Garrett Gerloff (31), JD Beach (95) and Mathew Scholtz all making the Superbike podium.(Left) Beaubier battled Beach in race two. Beaubier went on to win and keep his championship hopes alive.
