ted he might be on the tired side
after several weeks on the road
racing extreme enduros.
"I kind of felt off all day; I don't
know why," Gerston admitted.
"I've just been traveling and rac-
ing so much, I feel tired. I slept
12 hours last night, and I was still
tired all day!"
In his first major race back
from injuries, Clayton Gerstner
held third for much of the day
aboard his brand-new, stock
Mom and Dad/KTM of Aspen/
Sofa Brand-backed 250 SX-F,
though he'd actually end up
fourth overall after eventual Pro
250 winner Bush passed him late
in the race. Part of that may have
been due to fatigue from minor
setup issues.
"I was prepared [physically],"
Gerstner said. "I think that my
setup was just off a little bit, so I
think my fitness is close to where
it needs to be. It was a tough
race, that's for sure—hard push!"
Comeback ride of the day
belonged to Bush and his
Works Enduro Rider/TSI Racing
Engines/O'Neal Racing YZ250F.
Last off the Pro 250 line when
his bike was reluctant to start,
Bush didn't panic. Currently
second in overall Pro points to
Kyle McDonal in the EHS, Bush
studied video from last year's
race to prepared for his first time
in Oklahoma. He said, "I'm used
to two-hour [EHS] races, so I
knew that extra half-hour [in WHS
races] was plenty of time to make
stuff happen. I made sure I was
patient because I've made quite
a few mistakes in past races not
being patient, so I rode patient,
and I rode smart."
He finished in 3:15:01 with
Gerstner clocking 3:16:42, local
Oklahoma racer Logan Adams
fifth overall and fourth Pro in
3:23:46 aboard his Honda of
Tulsa-backed KTM 300 XC.
Dillon Sheppard and his 707
Racing YZ250FX took second
Pro 250 and 11th overall, while
Beta support rider Zane Roberts
had to get a broken ignition coil
replaced early on but managed
to get back in the race and claim
third Pro 250, locking up the
class championship with one
round remaining.
Fly Racing Sherco 300-mount-
ed Steve Leivan came out on top
of a fierce battle at the end for
top A overall, finishing seventh
overall and first Vet A, followed by
250cc A winner Angus Riordan,
OHSCS A Team winner Tony
Joiner, Beta-supported McDonal
and Open A winner Brett Sage.
