place in the moto, Cianciarulo
clinched his first-ever professional
championship in his last race in
the 250MX class.
"I saw those two in front of me,
obviously, battling, and Dylan
[Ferrandis] ran me wide on the
start, and those guys were going
really fast in the beginning, so it
was kind of hard," Cianciarulo
said, "because I felt like I had
some pace, but I didn't want to
get in between them, because
that's when things get hectic. So
I thought I'd let it play out how it
SCARY MOMENT
Adam Cianciarulo had a frighten-
ing moment in practice when
he went down, and his bike was
landed on. Given his bad luck
in recent championships, it was
enough to cause a few folks to
hold their breath. In the end,
though, Cianciarulo clinched his
first-ever professional champion-
ship and ended the series hav-
ing won half of the races overall
and finished on the overall
podium at all 12 rounds.
250MX WRAP-UP
With his two moto wins at the
series finale, Dylan Ferrandis
pulled ahead of champion Adam
Cianciarulo in moto wins for the
season. Ferrandis had nine moto
wins to Cianciarulo's seven.
Cianciarulo had six overall wins
in total to Ferrandis's four. The
other two went to Justin Cooper
and Shane McElrath. In terms
of laps led, Ferrandis ended
the series with 112 laps led over
Cianciarulo's 97 and Cooper's
81.
450MX WRAP-UP
In the 450MX class, Eli Tomac
ended the series with 11 moto
wins and six overall wins, while
Ken Roczen had five moto wins
and three overall wins. Marvin
Musquin had four moto wins and
two overall wins. Just as in the
250MX class, the runner-up in
the points led the most laps in
2019, with Roczen leading 151
laps to Tomac's 105. Musquin
led 58.
LAWRENCE UPDATE
Hunter Lawrence tore his ACL
the Wednesday before the
series finale in Indiana, so he
was a no-show and depending
on the severity of the tear, the
injury could put his off-season in
jeopardy, as he prepares for his
supercross debut. His younger
brother, Jett, had a tough week-
end in Indiana with incidents off
the start in both motos. In moto
one, Jett was forced off the side
of the track off the start, and in
moto two, he fell in the first turn.
He still managed a 12-14 on the
day for 13th overall. He ended
the series with 29 total champi-
onship points, which is less than
the 40 necessary to bump him
out of the amateurs and force
him into the pros.
Briefly...
(Left) Dylan Ferrandis (34) did what
he had to do at Crawfordsville but it
wasn't enough to catch Cianciarulo.
(Below) Ferrandis won both 250MX
motos, but his teammate Justin
Cooper didn't make it easy on him.
