Within two laps, it was Ferrandis out front over Cooper and Cianciarulo, and Cianciarulo needed to finish sec- ond place if Ferrandis won the moto in order to clinch the title one moto early, but it seemed as if Cianciarulo was going to get some help to that end from Cooper, who passed Ferran- dis for the lead early in the race. With Cooper taking the win, it would've allowed Cianciarulo to clinch the title in third, but Ferrandis had other ideas and chased his teammate back down in the latter stages and made the pass, sprinting away with the moto victory. Cianciarulo dug deep and also chased Cooper down, passing him for second with just a few minutes left on the clock. Ferrandis took the moto win over Cianciarulo, Cooper and Geico Honda's Chase Sexton, with Rockstar Energy Husqvarna's Michael Mosiman rounding out the top five. With second IIIMY OWN RACE: 25 MARVIN MUSQUIN 9TH 45MX (1-DNF) Marvin Musquin had one of the best motos of his career in moto one, chas- ing down and passing both Eli Tomac and Ken Roczen to win the moto, but his hopes for the overall win, and his hopes for bea ng Roczen for second place in the tle chase, ended in the third turn of moto two. "In the first moto, I charged hard to get around Tomac and the lap a er I passed Roczen and it was just awesome," Mus- quin said. "To me, it was the best moto of the year. In the second moto, I was maybe charging too hard off the start, and I came into that le -hander too hot and couldn't slow down enough. Zach [Osborne] was ahead of me, and I couldn't avoid him, and I basically landed on him in that li le turn, and I couldn't avoid that. Unfortunately, I crashed and tweaked my knee so I couldn't keep going. It was a bummer, I wanted to finish on a high note and also secure my second place in the championship, but unfortunately, I lost that." 94 KEN ROCZEN 2ND 450MX (2-3) Ken Roczen was fast in Indiana.
