AUGUST 23, 1989
Chris Carr captured his 11th victory at the Peoria TT and was pictured
on the cover 20 years ago… Greg Albertyn traded moto wins with
Kevin Windham at the 250cc AMA National MX at Spring Creek, but
Albertyn was awarded the overall win. Nick Wey won the 125cc class…
We had coverage of the Black Hills Half Mile, where Rich King took
the main-event win… Travis Pastrana and James Stewart stole the
headlines at Loretta Lynn's. Pastrana was the top premier rider and
Stewart was the top minicycle rider.
Chris Carr was pictured on the cover 30 years ago for winning the
Peoria TT for a fifth time… Kevin Schwantz won the British GP at
Donington Park, England, while Sito Pons, riding a Honda, clinched
the 250cc World Championship… Tommy Clowers and Jeff Emig
were the big winners at the NMA GNC MX Finals at Ponca City.
Other winners included Justin Buckelew (Pee Wee Stock), Robbie
Reynard (80 Stk and Mod. 9-11,
and 105cc 9-11) and Ezra Lusk
(80 Stk Expert 9-11).
