MOTOCROSS LUCAS OIL AMA PRO MOTOCROSS CHAMPIONSHIPS ROUND 11 / AUGUST 17, 2019 BUDDS CREEK RACEWAY / BUDDS CREEK, MARYL AND P68 pionship by 30 points going into the finale, which means a second-place finish in the first moto at Ironman Raceway next Saturday will clinch the title, or a total of 21 points scored on the day will do the same. Michael Mosiman (Hus) 5-14 Alex Martin with a few laps to go. Martin ended up third in the moto over Ferrandis and Cianciarulo, both of whom came from outside the top 10. Then came the day's fastest 250MX qualifier Chase Sexton in sixth, just in front of CycleTrader/ Rock River Yamaha's Brandon Hartranft, Hampshire, McAdoo and Oldenburg. McElrath took the overall with a 1-1 over the 2-5 of Cianciarulo and the 6-2 of Cooper, while Ferrandis ended the day fourth overall with a 4-4. "One word, just perseverance," McElrath said of his tough season leading up to this point. "It's been a real test of our faith this year, and a real test of our strength. It's been humbling, that's for sure. My results this year haven't been what we wanted, but we've kept at it." Hampshire was fifth (3-8) over McAdoo (8-9), Sexton (12-6), Masterpool (7-11), Martin (18-3) and Mosiman (5-14). Cianciarulo now leads the cham- IIIMY OWN RACE: stay with him. He had some good lines and good intensity, and I was second for most of the moto un l Coop [Jus n Cooper] got me at the end there." 16 ZACH OSBORNE 5TH 450MX (5-4) Zach Osborne had a strong ride, grab- bing fi h overall. "Today was another solid day in the top-five, but I struggled with the pace in the beginning," Osborne said. "The track was strange for me today, it's really hard-packed, and that's something I don't normally excel in, so it felt pre y good to go 5-4 and put on a really good charge in the second moto." 34 DYLAN FERRANDIS 4TH 250MX (4-4) Dylan Ferrandis had a consistent day but had to come from way behind in both motos, and ul mately his starts cost him two points in the champion- ship. In the second moto, while chasing tle rival Adam Cianciarulo, he was knocked down by Mitchell Falk, who was on the blind side of a turn and was briefly going backward on the track a er a fall and clipped Ferrandis. S ll, Ferrandis chased Cianciarulo back down and passed him. "The bad start I had in moto one really affected me," Ferrandis said. "Then, in the second moto, I was in the wrong place at the wrong me when I had two riders crash in front of me. It was not really the day I expected." The 250MX title doesn't seem likely for Ferrandis now, but we all thought the same thing in Supercross earlier this year. And we know what happened there.
