halfway through the race.
Geico Honda's RJ Hampshire followed
Cianciarulo across the finish line, and then
came Cianciarulo's closest championship
rival, Dylan Ferrandis.
Behind Ferrandis came Rockstar Ener-
gy Husqvarna's Michael Mosiman, Ferran-
dis' teammates Justin Cooper and Master-
pool, McElrath, McAdoo, Martin Davalos
and Hunter Lawrence, who returned from
injury for the Budds Creek race.
In moto two, McElrath got the hole-
shot over Mitch Oldenburg, and then
Oldenburg took over the lead when
McElrath made an early error. But McEl-
rath gathered himself back up, passed
Oldenburg, and took off again, eventual-
ly winning by almost eight seconds, this
time over Cooper, who fought his way by
JGR/Yoshimura Suzuki Factory Racing's
Shane McElrath
caught fire at
Budds Creek. He's
been quiet all year
but his win in the
250MX class was
loud and clear.
It didn't seem like an especially good
day for class-championship leader
Adam Cianciarulo, but he still managed
to pull two precious points on his
nearest rival, Dylan Ferrandis.
