FLAT TRACK AMERICAN FLAT TRACK CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND 12 / AUGUST 6, 2019 BL ACK HILLS SPEEDWAY / RAPID CIT Y, SOUTH DAKOTA P100 tried to execute," said Bauman. "That's what we did. Jeffrey got the holeshot on the restart. I figured I needed to make a move happen really quickly. Luckily I was able to high-low him and beat him." Briar's lead continued to grow as Carver tried to fend off Bron- son's attempt for another Bau- man brothers 1-2 finish. Carver was able to add to his impressive string of second-place finishes (three times in the last four rac- es), as he just held off Bronson. A short distance back, Ja- cobsen, Robinson, Henry Wiles (Bandit Industries/DPC Racing/ Wilco Racing, Indian FTR750), Sammy Halbert (Harley-Davidson Motor Company/Vance & Hines, Harley-Davidson XG750R) and Jarod Vanderkooi (Harley-David- son Motor Company/Vance & Hines, Harley-Davidson XG750R) were all fighting over fourth. On lap 17, Halbert and Wiles got together, allowing Vanderkooi to displace both of them. Wiles obviously got the worst of it and fell off the pace. Wiles would eventually drop back to 13th. Robinson was able to get by Jacobsen on lap 22 and close drastically on Carver and Bron- son, but Robinson would settle for fourth. PJ Jacobsen posted his best career finish with fifth place. Vanderkooi was right on Ja- cobsen's rear wheel. A short distance back, Halbert just held off Larry Pegram (Indian Motorcycles/S&S Cycles/Pe- gram Racing, Indian FTR750) and JD Beach (Estenson Rac- ing/Monster Energy, Yamaha MT-07). IIIMY OWN RACE: 14 BRIAR BAUMAN 1ST AFT TWINS "A er the restart, I did like eight or nine really good laps," said Briar Bauman. "I got the five to go, and I don't know when I lapped Jared as he pulled up for us. I took a peek back when he did that, and I thought, no way, no one is even here. So I was stressing because I was wondering if someone was to the high side of me or I missed someone. When you are racing with Jeffrey, he doesn't give you an inch; he's a fighter. I knew that it was going to be a close one. It feels really good a er Buffalo Chip, not so much for me, but the team. I felt like I put myself in the worse posi on than I could at Buffalo Chip. Coming back with a win is not even close to what I would like to do to repay them for Buffalo Chip." 23 JEFFREY CARVER 2ND AFT TWINS "On the restart, I got the holeshot, but Briar passed me back down the backstretch," said Carver. "He was just smooth. I just kind of spun it up just a li le bit too much a couple of mes. I was running a pre y tall gear. I needed to hit my marks, and I wasn't hi ng them like I was at the beginning of the race. That slowed me down just a li le bit. All in all, it was a good day to finish second behind the points leader." Briar leads his brother, Bronson. But Carver made it a Bauman sandwich.
