IN THE WIND P40 Teyler Wins N.D. Motoclimb Super Series T he first round of the IRC Motoclimb Super Series (MSS) was held at the Brick Mine in Walhalla, North Dakota, July 6-7, and it challenged some of the world's best Motoclimb riders in the nation, as they climbed this technical 750-foot-long hill. Cairoli Out For Season F ormer MXGP World Champion Antonio Cairoli (Red Bull KTM) underwent surgery on his injured shoulder, Saturday, July 6, in Belgium. As a result, the former 2019 points leader will sit out the rest of the season. The Italian decided on further scans after the swelling had subsided on his right shoulder. He had initially hoped to continue racing in 2019, but damage to the subscapularis and supraspina- tus muscles meant he was advised to have surgery right away. The procedure was performed by Tom Claes (son of renowned surgeon Toon), and the nine-time world champion has begun a recovery period that can take between three-four months. "It is sad to finish the championship this way, and it hasn't happened too many times in my career," Cairoli said. "When I tried to ride last week, I knew I had some problems, but I wanted to stay positive about the recovery. I had more scans in Belgium, and the injury was much worse than we thought, so they told me to have surgery right away, and it was the best solution to get healthy again in the fastest way. Thanks to the team and to the fans for the support. I hope to visit a few races before the end of the season and will now concentrate on get- ting better." CN The Eagle Ridge M.C. built a series of doubles, step-ups, and even whoops before the riders had to negotiate the 400- foot loose face. Austin "Superfly" Teyler, of Billings, Mon- tana, finished 2-2 in the 450cc Main and Open classes, winning his first overall MSS event aboard his Suzuki RM-Z450 and Suzuki Bandit 1200. Harold Waddell, of Omaha, Nebraska, and Logan Cipala, of Ellsworth, Wisconsin, won the Open class and 450 Main, respec- tively, and finished close behind Teyler in the overall results. The next round is set for July 13 in Bay City, Wisconsin, where more nitro will be burned, and Red Bull Factory KTM's Ryan Sipes will be competing in the 450 class for his "General Sipes" web series.
