Carl Fogarty, Greg Albertyn and Kevin Atherton all got a piece of the
cover 20 years ago. Fogarty won both legs of the World Superbike round
at Monza, Albertyn won the High Point Motocross National (as did Ricky
Carmichael in the 125cc class), and Kevin Atherton took top honors
at the Springfield Mile… We interviewed CAT Honda Team Motocrosser
Mike Brown who recently won his first-ever GP in the 125cc class in
Holland… We also interviewed road racer Warren Willing.
We featured the start of the 125cc National Motocross from High
Point on the cover 30 years ago. George Holland went on to
take the overall win, while Jeff Stanton did the same in the 250cc
class… One of our cover stories focused on women in road racing.
Some of those ladies in leathers included Kathleen Coburn,
Suzanne Brightbill and Toni Sharpless… Scott Summers won the
WinterPlace 100 GNCC/Hare Scrambles in Flat Top, West Virginia.
