MOTOCROSS LUCAS OIL AMA PRO MOTOCROSS CHAMPIONSHIPS ROUND 2 / MAY 25, 2019 FOX RACEWAY / PALA, CALIFORNIA P72 son in the overall results. But Tomac was the man of the day. "I was just happy I was able to get the win on a normal track, right?" Tomac said. "Last week, the first moto, we had the normal racing surface, and I went backward at halfway, so I was kind of scratching my head. 'What the heck's going on?!' This week was big for me, mentally, to go and do it on our normal dirt." Tomac has now won three moto wins in a row and takes over the points lead. He has four points on Roczen, as the series heads to Tomac's home state of Colorado for the Lakewood National. before it dropped at the start of the sec- ond 250MX moto, but the AMA didn't see it that way, and the race continued on regardless. "I was kind of bummed because I was really stoked with my second-moto gate on the inside there," Cianciarulo said. "The gate flinched su- per hard, and the whole first lap, I was thinking to myself, 'Man, I shouldn't re- ally expend too much energy because they've got to red-flag it! They've got to red-flag it!' And then they didn't, so I was like, 'Oh, man, we've got to start making some moves!'" CIANCIARULO/ LAWRENCE Cianciarulo talked about his battle with Hunter Lawrence in the second 250MX moto. "It was a really good race," he said. "I've been based in California this year, and I've seen Hunter ride out here. He rides the bike really well. So, it didn't surprise me to see him up there. I know he had a crash in the first moto, so obviously he made do with a poor gate choice in the second moto, but he had a couple spots I just felt like that he was getting me; that first step-down over by the Fox area, he was getting me, and before the finish line, too." GOOD WITH THE BAD Kyle Peters struggled through the day after injuring his back in a first-turn pileup in the first 250MX moto. The JGRMX/Yoshimura Suzuki Team rider salvaged a 27th in the moto and gritted out a 20th-place finish in the second moto to earn one point for all his effort. His teammate, Justin Hill, however, had a better day. He had one of his best rides all year, going 8-7 in the 450MX Briefly... Zach Osborne showed good speed and ended up out- dueling his teammate Jason Anderson for fourth overall.
