VOL. 56 ISSUE 21 MAY 28, 2019 P71 Husqvarna) getting by Webb for fifth. In the second moto, Baggett got the holeshot again but was immediately passed by Musquin for the lead. Musquin, however, had Tomac all over him right away. Tomac spent half of the moto searching for a way around the Frenchman before he finally made a pass stick. From there, he ran away with it, winning the moto by 11 sec- onds over Musquin and Roczen. Osborne got in a battle with his teammate Anderson and eventually got around him to take fourth. He and Anderson tied on points for the day, but Osborne's better second- moto finish put him ahead of Ander- FAST FREDDY Privateer Honda racer Freddy Noren had a good day at Pala, and afterward, he talked a little bit about what it's like to race as a privateer. "The crew is mainly me and my wife and my little baby girl [laughs]," Noren said standing outside the JGRMX/Yoshimura Suzuki pits. "We go in our camper right now, bumming help every weekend from friends and family. I've [been on a] factory [team], and it's awesome, and I'd love to be back on one of those teams if there's ever an opening—like here [laughs]. But it's fun, too." Noren was at the JGR pits meeting up with the Pirelli guys to get his award as the top Pirelli- equipped racer of the day, but the JGR squad may be precisely the type of outfit that could use Noren's services for the rest of the MX series, so we'll have to wait and see if anything happens there. FERRANDIS VS. CIANCIARULO Adam Cianciarulo lost the 250SX West title to Dylan Ferrandis just a few weeks ago, in heartbreaking fashion, and Ferrandis felt like the loss could've been a motive for Cianciarulo to take Ferrandis out early in the first 250MX moto at Fox Raceway. "From my point of view, it was after the pit-lane area, the right [turn], the guys in front of me had contact and slowed down a little bit. I was on the outside, so I slowed down, too, and tried to cut the corner to pass the guys, because they were really slow, and obviously, Adam [Cianciarulo] came from the inside and hit me, and I crashed," Ferrandis said. "I haven't seen the video, so I don't know. He told me after the moto that he didn't want to take me out, so I don't know for sure. I think [laughing] he enjoyed this moment a little bit from the supercross and everything that happened; I can imagine that he liked it, but I don't know if he wanted to make it or not." Cian- ciarulo answered the accusation directly. "From my point of view, the first laps are super-hectic, obvi- ously, so like guys are everywhere going from one side of the track to the other, and [with] Dylan, I just came in kind of a little bit farther outside than him. He kind of got hung up with another guy, and he kind of stood his bike up a little bit, and when he stood his bike up, I was kind of cutting under him at the same time. I definitely shot the gap, and obviously, there's going to be a chance that he re-commits to the corner and we collide," Cianciarulo said. "With that being said, it's never my intent to put somebody else on the ground. Obviously, it's racing, and there's going to be a little bit of rubbing, but that's what I told him af- ter the race. We did hit; I didn't even know I took him out. I thought he was right behind me, still. I'll never be the guy that races like that to take somebody out. Sure, if you've got to make an aggressive move, any one of these guys is going to move you out of the way if they have to. We take this stuff seriously. So, it was unfortunate that he crashed. That's not the way I like to race. But [laughing] I'm sure he'll get me back at some point..." THE FLINCH THAT WASN'T Many 250MX racers were posi- tive that the gate definitely flinched Briefly...
