the East/West Shootout, as Ferrandis's
teammate Justin Cooper suffered a bad
start while points leader Chase Sexton
started inside the top five. Sexton rode
a solid main event to finish fourth, while
Cooper finished eighth, and Sexton took
his first professional championship.
"It feels super-good," Sexton said. "It
hasn't really sunk in yet, but being only
19 years old and winning my first champi-
onship is unbelievable. It was the longest
15-plus-1 I've ever done. The track was
gnarly. To do this for myself, and for the
team, feels awesome. It couldn't have
happened any better." CN
Adam Cianciarulo let the 250SX West Championship slip
out of his hands when he fell while running third.
