VOL. 56 ISSUE 18 MAY 7, 2019 P53
dusty and pretty dangerous, so
it was just about being patient,
hitting your lines right and being
aware of the lappers—they were
really good today, but I know
they're in their own race, too, so
we both have to be respectful."
Despite falling in the tricky
rock section on the last lap, the
Pro Circuit/Maxxis/Fasthouse
KX450 rider had a 31-second
margin over Seeds at the fin-
ish to earn the majority of the
$8000 combined Pro purse.
FMF/Dunlop/O'Neal YZ450F-
mounted Seeds said, "I definitely
felt really good today.
"I got the start—I was three
for three on holeshots for the
weekend—and was able to get
up front, but Zach had a nice
line through the whoops on the
truck course and got by me. I
was like, 'Okay, let's stay close
to him. I know we can pull away
from third and fourth, and that's
what we did.
"I pretty much rode tight the
whole time. The track is just so
weird; it's so unpredictable what's
going to happen, so Zach got
away from me a little bit. Trevor
started to catch up to me, Blayne
[Thompson] started to catch up
to him, and I was like, 'Uh oh,
here we go!' Thank goodness for
the pit because the pit saved me.
I got my drink and was able to go
out and push and try to close the
gap on Zach."
Though he whittled the gap
down a bit, the race remained in
Bell's hands and Seeds settled
for second, taking three points
out of the gap to Stewart.
Pro Circuit/J.L. Ray/Fly Rac-
ing CRF450RX rider Stewart
came into Sunday after a high-
speed get-off Saturday that left
him banged up and said, "I took
a big digger yesterday [in the AA
race]. It was one of the gnarlier
crashes I've had in a long time!
I don't know how I'm okay from
it, honestly. I think I just lied to
myself all day yesterday, telling
myself I was okay to race today."
Bell's teammate Blayne
Thompson claimed fourth ahead
of motocrosser Ryan Surratt and
his MotoCutz Kawasaki. Slam
Life Racing (SLR) Honda's Tal-
lon LaFountaine finished sixth
overall in winning the Pro II class
aboard his Monster Energy/Lava
It was the SLR Honda rider's
first NGPC win with class points
leader 3 Bros./SRT Husqvarna's
Ciaran Naran having an off day
but still finishing second in class
and seventh overall.
TBT Racing Kawasaki's Ryan
Reina, Chaparral Motorsports/
Precision Concepts Kawasaki
rider Clay Hengeveld (third Pro
II) and 3 Bros. Husqvarna-
mounted Shane Logan (fourth
Pro II) rounded out the top 10
overall.

Warm temperatures
and a light wind made
it impossible to keep
water in the dirt, so
dust was a problem in
several sections. Tallon
LaFountaine fought
through it to claim his
first Pro II win.
