VOL. 56 ISSUE 18 MAY 7, 2019 P47 and it was like 30 seconds. I just kind of like would make up time, then I'd crash and lose time. Just kind of back and forth all day." XC1 Pro rookie Josh Toth grabbed his first overall podium by capitalizing on a good start. The FMF/KTM Factory rider had to drop out of the round in South Carolina three weeks before when he crashed and hit his head but was looking sharp as a tack in Indiana. After winning the season opener in Florida, Tely Energy Racing/KTM's Steward Baylor Jr. has struggled to come close to duplicating that result and ad- mitted afterward that he "wasn't on his game." After a couple of mistakes, Baylor was able to salvage a credible fourth. Trail Jesters/KTM's Ben Kel- ley is now five for five in the XC2 250 Pro class after posting a fifth overall finish—good enough for the class win. "Another win in XC2 and I'm stoked," said Kelley. "I had a re- ally good jump off the start and drove it in there. I was third com- ing around the third corner, one of the guys went down in front of me, and I had to go off the track, so I got passed and was kind of mid-pack. It took me two laps to work through the field. I tried to put in a charge that last lap and get within a minute of Stew, but there was a guy down on the FMF power point and I couldn't make it." After running up front early in the race, Ricky Russell settled into sixth overall at the finish, three minutes behind Kelley. Still not 100% after having reconstructive surgery on his shoulder during the off-season, Grant Baylor brought his Tely Energy Racing KTM in for sev- enth, while the DeLong broth- ers, Craig and Andrew, finished one in front of the other in eighth and ninth. Craig was eighth on a Coastal Racing Husqvarna and second in the XC2 250 Pro class, while Andrew was ninth on a Phoenix Racing Honda. Phoenix Racing Honda team- mate Austin Lee rounded out the top 10, also finishing third in the XC2 250 Pro class. Rockstar Energy/Factory Husqvarna Racing's Trevor Bol- linger had mechanical issues and finished 11th overall. Trail Jesters/KTM's Jesse Ansley won the FMF XC3 125cc Pro-Am with Factory Beta USA's Cody Barnes second and Yamaha-mounted Chase Colville in third. Meanwhile, Rockstar Energy/Husqvarna/Moose Husqvarna's Tayla Jones edged Maxxis-sponsored KTM's Becca Sheets by nine seconds to win the WMX class, with Rachel Archer in third. CN OVERALL 1.
