30 Years Ago MAY 10, 1989 Our coverage of the AMA Superbike round at Laguna Seca was pictured on the cover 20 years ago which showed Anthony Gobert leading Mat Mladin and Doug Chandler… Colin Edwards spoiled Carl Fogarty's bid to sweep the FIM World Superbike round in Fogarty's home country of England… We covered the final round of the AMA U.S. Supercross Series at Las Vegas, where Jeremy McGrath capped off his championship-winning season with the win. Nathan Ramsey took the AMA East/West 125cc Shootout victory. Randy Hawkins was pictured on the front page for winning the Little Muddy National Enduro in Illinois… Sixteen-year-old Damon Bradshaw captured his first career AMA Motocross National win when he topped both 125cc motos at Lake Sugar Tree in Axton, Virginia. Jeff Stanton won the 250cc class… We covered the Manzanita Half Mile AMA 600cc National in Arizona, where Chris Carr took the win… We tested the 1989 Suzuki RM250K motocrosser… John Mafaro won the NHRA Drag Race round in Commerce, Georgia.
