"On the second loop, I was just
going to go on a management
mode, just control the distance
and make as much dust to where
he can't get by if they do catch
me. I saw him a couple times, and
I got back on it and pulled away.
When Joe and I were side by side,
it was everything we've got on
these bikes, pinning it!
"It's cool and sketchy at the
same time. I really enjoy it be-
cause it shows everybody's put-
ting in 100 percent, so the cham-
pionship's not easy. Even though
I'm not in the points chase, I still
want to see how many points I can
catch back up and get back on
the podium."
Shirey's win moves him up to
sixth in points at 71.
"It was a good battle between
the three of us," Wasson said. The
Motul/Kenda/Fly Racing 430 RR-
mounted new points lead added,
"Me and Dalton were side by side
down a two-track whooped-out
[sandy] road as fast as the bike
would go. It was like, 'Hold your
line! Hold your line!' Jake and I did
the same thing [later]. It was just
awesome—as fast as the motor-
cycle would go and you're literally
a foot away from somebody!"
Argubright actually had second
place and a 17-second cushion
over Wasson after completing the
51-mile first loop on his Maxima/
Kawasaki of Simi Valley/Fly Racing
KX450. On the more technical
35-mile second loop, however, an
exhaust issue caused his bike to
slow as it got louder, and he was
unable to hold Wasson off. Disap-
pointed at losing the points lead,
he nonetheless noted he was only
four points back, and with four
rounds left, things could easily go
the other way.
Purvines Racing Yamaha's Nick
Burson recovered from a last-
place start to finish fourth—his
best finish of the season so far—
followed by Pro 250 winner Zane
Roberts and runner-up Daemon
Woolslayer. That made it three in
a row for Beta-supported Roberts
who now leads Economy Floors
Yamaha rider Woolslayer, 140-105.
Beta's Chance Fullerton, Mo-
toXperts Suzuki rider Tallon Taylor,
Purvines Racing Yamaha's Axel
Pearson and Rocky Mountain ATV-
MC KTM rider Josh Knight (third
Pro 250) rounded out the top 10
overall.
Colorado Recycling KTM's
Brandy Richards added a fourth
Pro Women triumph to her record
with Beta's Morgan Tanke second
and Richards' teammate Britney
Gallegos third. Richards now leads
round-three winner Tanke, 120-114.
