We pictured Kenny Roberts Jr. on the cover for winning the Malaysian
Grand Prix… Jeremy McGrath clinched his sixth Supercross
Championship at the Louisiana Superdome after finishing second to
Ezra Lusk. Ernesto Fonseca took his fifth 125cc West win, and he too
clinched the class championship… Troy Corser was a double winner
at the World Superbike round at Phillip Island… Larry Pegram won the
AMA Superbike National at Willow Springs… James Stewart was the
top minicycle rider at the NMA World Mini GP in Las Vegas.
We featured our coverage of the Laguna Seca U.S. Grand Prix on the
cover 40 years ago. Wayne Rainey was pictured on the front page for
taking the win. This was the same race that Bubba Shobert suffered
severe injuries during the cool-off lap when he and Kevin Magee
collided… Ron Lechien and Jeff Ward shared wins at the Pontiac
Supercross doubleheader… Larry Roeseler and partner Kenny Parry
won the Las Vegas 300… Trampas
Parker won the 125cc MX GP in
Faenza, Italy. It was his first career
GP victory.
