in the lead, he pulled to a com-
manding lead that grew to over
two seconds. It took Varnes until
the halfway point to grab second,
and that was as far as he would
advance. Carlile was also around
Gauthier and stayed close to Var-
nes, but could not make up enough
ground to take second.
Gauthier was just able to hold off
Kayl Kolkman (Kolkman Racing/
Stamped Concrete Design, Ya-
maha MT-07) for fourth. Chad Cose
(Parkinson Brothers Racing/Ritchie
Reynolds, Kawasaki Ninja 650),
Ben Lowe (Roof Systems of Dallas/
Bruce Lowe Excavating. Kawasaki
Ninja 650), JR Addison (Smith-
Addison Racing/Tony Westbrook,
Kawasaki Ninja 650), Danny Eslick
(Black Hills Harley-Davidson/Pro
Beam by Custom Dynamics, Harley-
Davison XG750R) and Jordan Harris
(RR-CF, Kawasaki Ninja 650) filled
out the top ten positions.
Texter has struggled to replicate
a minimum of 18 American Flat Track
events during the last three seasons.
AFT Singles licensed riders may
participate in both the AFT Singles
and AFT Production Twins classes
on the same day, but AFT Twins
licensed riders must choose Pro-
duction Twins or Pro Twins. Twenty
riders made up the entry list for the
first race.
When the light flashed green
to start the 15-lap main event, it
was Gauthier (Racing Unlimited
Kawasaki/D&D Cycles, Kawasaki
Ninja 650) leading the pack into
turn one. Pole sitter Cory Texter
(G&G Racing/Holeshot Powers-
ports, Yamaha MT-07) was tucked
in right behind. Kolby Carlile (Es-
tenson Racing/Monster Energy,
Yamaha MT-07) and Ryan Varnes
(Varnes Racing/RoyBuilt/Don's Ka-
wasaki, Kawasaki Ninja 650) were
tussling over third.
It took Texter three laps to work
his way around Gauthier, but once
James Ott (193) beat out
Morgen Mischler for the last
spot on the Singles podium.
