ROCZEN SEARCHING
Ken Roczen says he's been dealing with
fatigue lately. "Well, I started feeling better
on Friday—I started going uphill a little bit,"
Roczen said. "I'm still not feeling quite right,
but this weekend, throughout the day, I told
Oscar [Wirdeman, his longtime mechanic]
I feel a lot better today than I did last week.
As of right now, though, there are no results
or anything yet, so I've kind of got to wait it
out and see what it is this week."
WHITE-FLAG STRATEGY
Marvin Musquin said that he actually
slowed down to make sure he'd get the
white flag a lap earlier than he might have
had he stayed going at full race speed. "I
knew that our lap times were around 47
or something, and I jumped the finish line
and looked at the board, and it was like
46-47 [left in the race]," Musquin said.
"And then, when I finished that lap, I kind
of slowed down to make sure he'd put
out the white flag. I did it on purpose. I
had a comfortable gap, so it was good.
I'm really happy to finally get the win with
[fellow Frenchman] Dylan [Ferrandis]. It
was a long time coming for both of us to
win main events [on the same night], and
when he won the 250cc main tonight, I
was like, 'I've got to do it, too.' It was really
nice to get it done."
AC BLOODIED
KNUCKLES (AGAIN!)
At the East/West Shootout in Atlanta a
few weeks ago, Adam Cianciarulo had
a close call with his teammate, Austin
Forkner, when Forkner's rear wheel came
down on Cianciarulo's left hand and blood-
ied his knuckles. A similar incident hap-
pened in the Seattle main event, this time
with Colt Nichols. "The beginning was a
little bit crazy," Cianciarulo said. "I thought
I had the start, but I ended up pushing the
front end a little bit and went out a little,
Briefly...
Dylan Ferrandis
celebrates his first-
ever 250SX victory.
250SX West
Ferrandis was, once again, the fastest
qualifier, but in the main event, it was his
teammate and former points leader Colt
Nichols who took the early lead before
he went down hard at the end of a rhythm
section and ended the race with a DNF.
Ferrandis witnessed the crash and was
initially shaken by it, but he made a pass on
Jimmy Decotis for the lead and managed
to hold off points leader Cianciarulo to take
his first-ever AMA Supercross win after four
second-place finishes just this year alone.
