We focused on cruisers 20 years ago and pictured on the cover was the
new Kawasaki Vulcan 1500 Drifter that we tested. We also tested the
latest Honda Valkyrie Tour… The AMA/MBNA Superbike Series visited
Phoenix International Speedway. Anthony Gobert ran off with the win in
a wire-to-wire romp. Nicky Hayden won the 600cc Supersport class…
Jeremy McGrath dominated the Minneapolis Supercross. Nathan
Ramsey saw his five-race win streak come to an end but he clinched
the 1999 AMA Western Regional 125cc Supercross Championship.
Jeff Stanton was pictured on the cover of Cycle News 30 years ago for
winning the Houston Supercross at the Astrodome… Also pictured on
the cover was Suzuki's all-new RMX250 off-road bike that we tested…
Ed Lojak won the Sand Flea 100 GNCC in Sanford, North Carolina.
He began his quest for an eighth straight title with the win… Dennis
Hawthorne was the star rider at the Lake Whitney GNC International
Motocross Final in Texas… Randy
Morales and Chuck Miller won the
Great Mojave 250.
