COMEDY BREAK
Speaking of Blake Baggett, he's been
on fire in the press conferences lately.
He had two other comedic moments
in the Indy press conference. The first
one came when someone asked if
there were team orders because late
in the 450SX main event it seemed
as if the top three stopped pushing
to pass each other. Marvin Musquin
leaned over to Baggett and said, "Did
someone tell you something on the
pit board, or?" Baggett, mockingly,
said, "No, I wanted to pass you, Marv,
sorry." "That's what I figured," Musquin
responded. Then Baggett leaned over
to Cooper Webb and said, "Coop, I
didn't want you to pass me, I'm sorry.
[Laughs]. I think the track was just
getting so bad that, you know, I was
trying to hit my marks, and I didn't hit
the same six inches of dirt in those 25
or 26 laps. I was all over the map. So,
I think that by that point, we were go-
ing for it, but at the same time, you're
not going to try to put it in the net or
anything like that."
HOMETOWN BOY
The Indy SX marks the closest thing
to a "home race" that Geico Honda's
Chase Sexton ever gets in supercross,
and he managed to win his heat race
and then grab a podium finish in front
of a lot of friends and family. "This is
my closest race to Illinois, which is
where I'm from," Sexton said. "It's cool
to have everyone here. It's not really
stressful. Last year, this was my worst
race. I DNF'd, so it wasn't hard to go
up from there, but it was good to get a
heat win. I felt good in the heat race. I
wish I could've put on more of a show
in the main event, but I didn't really
ride like myself. But it's cool to have all
my friends and family here."
