n Detroit a week ago, Eli
Tomac was head and shoul-
ders better than everyone else
on the track in qualifying and in
the first two out of three main
events, taking his second win of
the year as a result. This week-
end, in Atlanta, Tomac again
outright lap in the main event,
but at various points in that race
it could be argued that he was
actually a bit of a roadblock. But
Webb won because his race was
more of a complete effort than
his competition's: Webb knew the
track would be tough to pass on,
so he knew he needed a good
start, and he got the holeshot,
then led every lap on his way to
answered with a resounding
come-from-behind victory.

When Webb won his first 450SX
Supercross in January of this
year, something clicked. Since
then, he's been at our near the
front almost every week. Com-
ing off a night a week earlier in
Detroit, where Webb was clearly
outclassed by Tomac, we were
left wondering if Webb had met
his match in Tomac. We got the
answer last Saturday night.
On the floor of Mercedes-
Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Geor-
gia, there was a sand turn that
spun about 270 degrees to the
right before a tunnel jump that
qualified at the top of the charts,
but a crash in the track's sand
section in his heat race led to a
poor gate pick in the main, which
led to a poor start to that race,
and an eventual sixth-place finish.
Meanwhile, series points
leader Cooper Webb wasn't the
fastest guy. He did set the fastest
his fifth win of the year.
And in the first 250cc East/
West Shootout of the year, the
big question was could any-
body stop Monster Energy/Pro
Circuit Kawasaki's 250SX East
points leader Austin Forkner?
His teammate, and 250SX West
points leader Adam Cianciarulo,
