Kevin Windham had sole possession of the cover of Cycle News 20
years ago for winning the Dallas Supercross… We covered the opening
round of the NASB/EBC Sportbike Series at Daytona International
Speedway. Josh Hayes took the superbike-class win… We showed
you pictures of Honda's new and very secret V-twin superbike… Doug
Blackwell won the Wilseyville Hare Scrambles in California… Franklin
Ramey III won the SETRA Sumter Enduro in South Carolina... Our Time
Remembered piece, "Memoirs of a Squirrel," featured Eddie Mulder.
Thirty years ago this week, we featured our preview of the 1989 Daytona
200 and Daytona Supercross. We had interviews with road racer Doug
Polen and rising supercross/motocross star Damon Bradshaw. We
also chatted with flat tracker Chris Carr… Jeff Stanton ended Rick
Johnson's supercross win streak at Atlanta… We covered Randy
Hawkins' win at the Quicksilver National Enduro in California… Mike
Brown was the 125 and 250cc
Expert winner at the Miami Amateur
MX… The Kawasaki KX125 won our
1989 125cc Motocross Shootout.
