"I know it's going to be a hard year,
but I'm looking forward to battling him all
year and give him some competition."
HYR Honda's Derek Kelley rode most
of the race by himself in third, round-
ing out the podium some three minutes
later aboard his Mom & Dad/Dunlop-
backed CRF450R.
"I tried to stick with the leaders the
first couple laps, but my hands [couldn't
take it]," he admitted. "I haven't ridden
much since the ending of last season at
Havasu, so I'm really happy to get third."
Eric Yorba (FMF/Maxxis/RPM Rac-
ing KTM) was thrilled to finish fourth
aboard his Motion Pro/DA8 Training/
Klim 450 XC-F, the shoulder he injured
last year finally showing significant
improvement.
Defending series champ Trevor Stewart set
the high-flying fast pace, only to lose the
lead to Seeds in the final 30 minutes, though
he stayed close, finishing one second back.
