We featured our 600cc supersport shootout on the cover from Las Vegas
Motor Speedway 20 years ago. The winner? The Yamaha R6. We said
that it was the top of the heap on the track…yet "masked its racer-like
extremity well enough on the street."… Honda's Ezra Lusk started the
1999 AMA Supercross Series with his second-straight win causing
people to start thinking, will this be his year?... We covered AMA
Superbike testing at Laguna Seca; Anthony Gobert and Ben Bostrom
topped the charts.
Supercross was about to fire up and we featured defending champ
Rick Johnson on the cover for our special supercross preview issue…
Mike LaRocco stole the show at the second round of the Florida
Winter AMA MX Series at Hyman Myers Park in Tallahassee… Mike
Kiedrowski and Jeff Ward topped the 125 and 250cc Pro classes
at Sandhill Ranch at the CMC/
Dodge Truck Golden State Series
in Brentwood, California… Dan
Smith won the Gold Strike World
Championship Hare & Hound.
