T
he records will show that
Australia was nearly untouch-
able at the 93rd International
Six Days Enduro (ISDE) in this busy
coastal city of Vina del Mar, north
of Santiago, Chile, winning the FIM
World Trophy (WT) for the sec-
ond time and the Women's World
Trophy (WWT) for an astounding
sixth-consecutive time.
And though the small but plucky
team from Down Under did indeed
grab the main headlines (oh yes,
Aussie Daniel Milner not only led
the way with his E3-class (500cc
two-stroke/650cc four-stroke)
triumph, but he was also the fast-
est individual rider over the week),
the U.S. team put in a determined
effort with plenty of ups and down
that saw it net runner-up in not
just one but—for the first time in
history—all three elite divisions:
WT, Junior WT (JWT) and WWT.
In addition, two Americans won
their respective classes: Taylor
Robert dominating E2 (250cc
two-stroke/450cc four-stroke) and
leading the individual overall at the
beginning of the week and J.T.
Baker more than met his individual
goals in winning C3 (like E3 but for
Club team riders) to earn a gold
medal and improving on his overall
final standing in his second Six
Days by finishing eighth among
more than 300 Club riders.
Most people viewed Chile
as fairly neutral ground for the
Six Days as it would require the
always-strong European teams
to pack their bikes and support
