BELL SHINES AT GORMAN BIG 6 WCGP Z ach Bell (STI/3 Bros. Husqvarna) had every reason to take it somewhat easy at the Prospectors Motorcycle Club's Gorman Grand Prix, round seven of the AMA District 37/FMF Big 6 Grand Prix Series, November 3-4. After all, he had a red-eye flight to catch Sunday night that would ultimately deliver him to Chile where he'll join the rest of the U.S. World Trophy team at the 93rd International Six Days Enduro (ISDE) that begins next week. It'll be both his first time on the Trophy team and his first ISDE. Talk about pressure! But he put that out of mind at the $2000, 90-minute West Coast Grand Prix (WCGP) feature race, took the lead early after a good start and dominated the rest of the event aboard his FMF/ AHM/Seven-sponsored FX 450. However, points leader Trevor Stewart managed to minimize the damage, the Johnny Campbell Racing (JCR) Honda star also rid- ing a smart race to finish second. He lost five points but still leads Bell, 170-146, unofficially, with one round left. Justin Seeds (Chaparral Mo- torsports/Precision Concepts Kawasaki) put in his best ride of the season in finishing third. "I've had a lot going on the last few months; I have to do what I have to do," Bell remarked. "Last weekend I won the WORCS [fi- nale] and carried the momentum into here. I really wanted this one. IN THE WIND P38 Winner Zach Bell (1), Eric Yorba (280) and Blayne Thompson (777) got great starts, but Justin Seeds (213) snuck by on the inside to take the holeshot.
