Rodney Smith was pictured on the cover of Cycle News 20 years
ago for winning the Spring Valley GNCC in Lisbon, Ohio… Ricky
Gadson also got a piece of the cover for winning the Prostar Gulf
Coast Drag Racing Nationals from Houston… We had an interview
with road racer David Sadwoski… We covered the 80cc class that
competed at the U.S. Open of Supercross at the Grand Garden
Arena. The big winner was Jonathan Shimp… Kurt Nicoll won the
Supermotard International Superbikers in Belgium.
Pictured on the cover of Cycle News 30 years ago was the winning
Human Race Team Yamaha in action at the Indy Six-Hour Endurance
Road Race… We covered the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the
construction of the Honda Rider Education Center in Colton, California.
Handling the scissor work was American Honda President Mr. Y.
Munekuni, and Colton Mayor Frank Gonzales… Steve Lucero won
the National Speedway Championship at Costa Mesa… We traveled to
Stillwater, Oklahoma, to interview
motocrosser Guy Cooper…
