rider Ryan Morais explained the
Frenchman is taking some much-
needed time off. "After Monster Cup
we came back and we had our team
photo shoot/intro. And he hasn't
had any time off, so he's actually in
France right now on vacation. Their
year is long and tough on them
and they deserve a break." France

however, as Christophe Pourcel and
Cedric Soubeyras made the trip to
the U.S. for the event. Pourcel con-
tested both classes, and even got to
square off with Ryan Villopoto, his
former Pro Circuit Kawasaki team-
mate, in one of the brackets.

"This is only my second time ever
on a 250 two-stroke," Jordon Smith
confessed. For many of the racers,
they haven't been on a two-stroke
since their amateur days, and some
had never raced a two-stroke in their
