said Dungey. "I was just try-
ing to focus on each bracket
and get into the finals, which
we did and I was like, 'all right
I'm here now, we got to give it
all we got.' Shane was riding
really good and when you got
two guys like that just executing
everything perfect, it's like split-
ting hairs. I was pumped on the
performance and just pumped
to come out here just like old
times and enjoy it."
Third overall went to another
retired racer simply enjoying
the ride and all the smack-talk
that went with it: Ryan Villo-

"Racing Ryan [Dungey] was
kind of' crazy. I didn't really
know what to think about it but
I felt I could give him a run. I

the podium, well satisfied just to
make it to the final.
"It's what I was hoping for,"

Eagle." He didn't even make it to the
evening program after missing the
daytime qualifiers. During the show,
Mac offered a characteristic expla-
nation, saying he thought practice
was stupid and didn't know it was
required. But later reports from his
pit called it a bike malfunction. "We
had one spare motorcycle and during
the day today, it was the display bike
that we put out. A rowdy fan climbed
on the bike and decided to rev it out

One of the highlights of the night
was this showdown between former
SX champions Ryan Villopoto and
Dungey. Dungey came out on top.
