O
nly two-strokes and only two lanes: it was a pretty
simple formula for the 2018 Red Bull Straight
Rhythm in Pomona, California, and it proved to add
up to a whole lot of fun. Fans and riders alike reveled in
a full throwback to the 1990s era in a night of smack talk,
retro gear and nods to heroes of the 90s, but also some
intense racing—some of it too close to call with the naked
eye. With some duels coming down to a hundredth of a
second—a mere knob's length in some cases—the head-
to-head racing kept fans guessing right through to the final
race of the night.
