With temperatures hovering in the mid-90s, Bobbitt
and Mullins jumped out to the
early lead on the tight singletrack trail, with Mullins easily winning the opening test,
while Bobbitt turned the fastest time in test number two.
However, Fahringer made his
move in test three, and it was
a big one, turning a time that
was 29-seconds faster than
Bobbitt and 51-seconds faster than Mullins.
Fahringer also won the
fourth test and tied Bobbitt
for the fastest time in the fifth
test, so from that point on it
was a matter of keeping it on
two wheels for Fahringer, as
he attempted to hold off a
late-race charge by Bobbitt in
