MOTOCROSS FIM MOTOCROSS OF NATIONS MOTOCROSS OF NATIONS / OCTOBER 6-7, 2018 REDBUD RACEWAY / BUCHANAN, MICHIGAN P70 end" of his motorcycle and could only muster 13th. Coldenhoff led the entire moto and his teammate Herlings ended up second, which meant The Netherlands won all three MXoN motos overall and won two of the three overall individual classes (MXGP and Open). But behind them there was plenty of drama near the front of the field, as Paulin was fighting it out with Cairoli for the overall MXoN victory. France's Tixier was struggling around 15th while Cairoli led Paulin, and Lupino ran as high as third in the moto, but Paulin dug in under the pressure and managed to clear himself from the battle to take third over Cairoli, who had a midrace fall, MXGP/OPEN In the final moto of the day, Cold- enhoff continued his hot hand, taking the holeshot over Italy's Lupino, France's Paulin, Germa- ny's Ken Roczen, Herlings, Max Nagl, Cairoli and the rest of the field. Barcia and Tomac rounded the opening lap in 12th and 14th, respectively. They both started working their way forward, and a few laps into the race Barcia let up and let Tomac by for 10th, as Tomac was definitely going faster, only for Tomac to fall and remount behind Barcia again. Tomac eventually went by Barcia a second time and worked his way up to seventh at the finish while Barcia struggled with a "mechanical issue with the rear side was difficult to get a start. That's the way they set it up and it didn't work out in our favor there. So that was unfortunate." Coldenhoff led every lap while Lawrence came through from outside the top five to grab sec- ond on the last lap from Prado. Then came Watson, Seewer and Belgium's Van Horebeek. France's Jordi Tixier scored a DNF when his KTM over- heated, which would go on to be France's throwaway moto. After two motos, without throwing away a score, Australia actually had the lead, but once the worst moto was dropped from each team, the order was: France 17, Australia 20, Spain 23, Belgium 24, Italy 28, USA 29. Team Puerto Rico— Ryan Sipes, Travis Pastrana and Kevin Windham—qualified for the main events through the B Final.
