Calvin Vlaanderen was forced
out of the moto while running
12th just past the halfway point
with an eye injury. Upon medical
evaluation, Vlaanderen was not
allowed to return for moto two,
guaranteeing The Netherlands
a DNF (moto one) and a DNS
(moto two).
Tomac, on the other hand,
benefitted from a late-race
mechanical for Great Britain's
Tommy Searle and finished
fourth, behind winner Herlings,
Paulin and Prado. Belgium's
Clement Desalle was fifth just in
front of Cairoli (who was briefly
down in turn one), Ferrandis,
Australia's Hunter Lawrence and
Canada's Colton Facciotti.

Coldenhoff picked up where
he left off in Saturday's Open-
class qualifying race with an-
other holeshot, leading early
over Prado, Great Britain's Ben
Watson, Seewer and the rest of
the field. The start was a disaster
for Team USA, though, as Barcia
had given up the inside gate pick
for MX2 teammate Plessinger
which, in hindsight, left them
both with bad starts. Barcia
rounded lap one in 16th, while
Plessinger was two spots behind
him in 18th. From there, Barcia
worked his way up to ninth at
the finish, while Plessinger lost
time pulling into the pits for new
goggles and ended up 16th.
"I gave up my good gate pick
for Aaron [Plessinger] in the
first race and I feel like maybe
I should have took that gate
because I was a little bit faster all
weekend," Barcia said. "The out-

Team Italy to a second-
