Last race winner, Briar Bauman was stretch-
ing the legs on his Zanotti Racing/Roof Systems
Indian Scout FTR750 after heat race problems
had forced him to his back-up motorcycle and he
moved to second on lap three, quickly becoming
a thorn in the champ's side. After several attempts
Bauman made the pass stick on lap seven and
started to pull away.
Bauman's blistering pace increased his lead
every lap over Mees, who held a small advantage
over Smith. Henry Wiles (Bandit Industries/Wilco
Racing Indian Scout FTR750), Rob Pearson (R/J
Performance/Hite Trucking/Country Saloon In-
dian Scout FTR750) and Cose were battling over
fourth in what was the only race going on as the
field scattered out around the big oval.
