A photo of winner Scott Parker, Chris Carr (left) and Steve
Morehead on the Sacramento Mile podium was featured on the
cover 20 years ago, as was a photo of Suzuki's new GSX-R1300
Hayabusa… Cycle News covered the amateur AMA Grand
Championship Road Race from Loudon; Charles Chouinard came
away with the Horizon Award… BMW introduced its K 1200 LT at
Intermot… Sweden's Tony Rickardsson won the World Speedway
Championship in Poland… Angelle Seeling ended Matt Hines
30-round win streak in Reading, Pennsylvania.
Scott Parker was pictured on the cover of Cycle News 30 years ago
for winning the Ascot Half Mile, which gave him enough points to clinch
his first championship, but a decision from a prior protest filed against
him by Bubba Shobert earlier at Syracuse had not been made yet, which
prevented an official celebration… Eddie Lawson won the final 500cc GP
in Brazil; he had already clinched the championship… Larry Roeseler,
