WEBB BOUNCES BACK AT RENO
ENDUROCROSS
C
ody Webb bounced right
back after going from first
to third in the main event the
previous week at Costa Mess
by winning just seven days later
in Reno, Nevada, at the Reno-
Sparks Events Center, Septem-
ber 22. Unfortunately for him,
though, his nearest rival in the
2018 championship and Costa
Mesa winner, Colton Haaker,
finished behind him in the Super
EnduroCross main event and
was able to pull back just a few
points. After three rounds, the
race for the championship is
locked up between Webb and
Haaker at 73 points apiece.
Third on the night was Ty Tre-
maine on the electric-powered
Alta, marking a first for an elec-
tric-power motorcycle—not just
on an EnduroCross podium but,
a professional AMA podium!
The competition started with
Haaker edging out Webb in the
afternoon hot laps, with Kyle
Redmond (SRT Husqvarna)
finishing third. Redmond's team-
mate Trystan Hart was next,
followed by Cooper Abbott (RPM
KTM).
Haaker then dominated the
first of two Pro-class heat races
but failed to take the "No Joke
Lane" during the race and was
forced to compete in the last
chance qualifier. Noah Kepple
(GasGas) was promoted to the
first heat-race win (a career
first for him). Ty Cullins (Beta),
Cristobal Guerrero (Yamaha),
Abbott and Ryan Wells (KTM)
transferred directly to the main by
filling out the top six positions.
In the second pro heat race,
Webb took the win over Tre-
maine. Dustin McCarthy (Ya-
maha), Geoff Aaron (GasGas),
Giacomo Redondi (KTM) and
Mason Ottersberg (Beta) finished
