OFF-ROAD AMA ENDUROCROSS SERIES ROUND 2 / SEPTEMBER 15, 2018 ORANGE COUNTY FAIRGROUNDS/ COSTA MESA, CALIFORNIA P58 from the second heat race were Ty Tremaine, Kyle Redmond, Geoff Aaron, Ryan Wells and Wally Palmer. In the following bracket race session, which takes the top four riders from each heat race and pits them head-to-head in run-off races, the final boiled down to a face off between the two top rac- ers of the series: Webb and Haak- er. The winner gets an extra point toward the championship and first gate pick for the evening's main event. It was a close and exciting bar-to-bar duel between the two with Haaker taking the win, the point and the first gate pick. PACKED HOUSE For the second consecutive race, the stands were packed and excess spectators were relegated to standing room only. The strong spectator turnouts and exciting racing have created a great buzz among the riders and fans as the series heads into round three next week in Reno. SUPPORT CLASSES In the Amateur class, it was all David Kamo, as he took the Open Amateur-class win. In Amateur B, Cole Wilton enjoyed his first EnduroCross win followed by Nick Saia and Ryan Gouveia. In the TrialsCross main event, Italy's Emanuel Angius came away with the victory. Coleman Johnson and Lior Ebiaz finished second and third, respectively. DISTRICT 37 CHALLENGE After debuting as a "pilot program" at the Ontario sea- son finale last year, the AMA District 37 Challenge was brought back to EnduroCross. Once again, some of the area's top amateur desert racers got a chance to race under the lights in what is likely their shortest race of the year. Tyler Smith took the win despite throwing his chain during the race. Frederick Parr and Sam Capt filled the podium in second and third, respectively. Briefly... Ty Tremaine definitely proved that the electric-powered Alta Redshift motorcycle is competitive in EnduroCross by placing fourth in the main event.
