The new motocross champions were pictured from Binghamton
on the cover of Cycle News 20 years ago. Yamaha's Doug Henry
took the 250cc title and Pro Circuit/Kawasaki's Ricky Carmichael
the 125cc title. Henry made history for being the first rider to win a
national MX title on a four-stroke… Aaron Slight won both legs of
the FIM World Superbike round at the A1-Ring Circuit in Austria…
Will Davis won his second consecutive GNC race at Sedalia.
Bubba Shobert clinched the Camel Pro Series Championship with
a second-place finish at the Indy Mile. Scott Parker took the win to
maintain his points lead in the Grand National Championship… At
Washougal, Rick Johnson wrapped up the AMA 500cc National
MX Championship. It was Johnson's seventh national MX title of
his career, breaking the record previously held by Bob Hannah…
Suzuki's Randy Hawkins dropped just one point to win the
Jack Pine National enduro in
Michigan… USA won the World
Team Speedway at Ascot.
